Beautiful historic buildings, restaurants...go to The Peanut Shop and get some snacks. Get peanuts and go to park across street. Squirrels and friendly and will eat from your hand.

It's not a very long stretch but there are some very charming houses and a big fountain. Park your car at the museum or fort and walk it, It's a nice walk, but be careful of the tree roots. They have broken some of the concrete, so side walk is a little rough in some areas.

While in Mobile we went to the church street area. We decided to first drive around to see where we wanted to start our walk. During the drive we went past the Spanish plaza that looked nice with the fountain and white arches. But as we drove around there were a lot of hotels and not many old homes. So I guess there must be a certain area around church street that has these beautiful old homes that everyone is talking about.

We parked the car and took a walk along the area admiring the historic homes. Many little shops to browse. And majestic large oak trees to shade the area and bring back reminders of long ago days.

We were told by a friend that if we only had time for one walking tour we should see the Church District. It was great! You can get self guided maps at the Welcome Center on Royal Street and walk around as many historic districts you want. The history is phenomenal.

Mobile has done a wonderful job preserving the historic areas of this city. It was a very rainy day over Christmas weekend when we were here, so enjoyed driving through this historic area. Hopefully next time, we'll be able to stroll the area and enjoy this wonderful southern historic district.

Had such a great time driving around!!! It was amazing, it was like walking in to a movie set back in time. My wife and I are from FL and it made us want to move there. So nice lots of fun.

Just park the car and walk till your legs hurt or you fill up your sd card with pictures! If you like older architecture, you will love this place!

We did our own driving tour of the historic downtown area and loved the beautifully preserved and maintained homes along Government Street and all the side streets. Just lovely, refined southern living!

Tons of shops and restaurants. They have parking lots where you can pay to park and then shop or eat at your leisure. There is not a lot of street parking - but the parking lots are in select locations where it makes it easy to get every where.

I adore history and architecture, this street is a gem! Lovingly mantained homes with huge Oak trees. I will certainly spend more time walking around on my next visit to Mobile.

This is one of six historic districts in the city and worth a walk through to enjoy the homes and the amazing Oak Trees!

My wife and I wandered up and down Church street and were fascinated with the homes, live oak trees and the overall ambiance of the area. If you have the time, visit the graveyard and look at the old Headstones - a real sense of time passing

We really enjoyed walking down the street and learning about all the beautiful homes. There is some real diversity in architectural styles that just make it delightful. We got an excellent map at Fort Conde for this.
