This is one of the best museums that we have visited. Plan on several hours as there is so much to see in this gem. Don't miss the little village out back, especially the pharmacy and the jail. Admission price($10) includes Ft Benton, with its adjacent museum and the Missouri Breaks information center. The town has done a great job of presenting its history to visitors. The levee walk along the river has many story boards providing information about Ft Benton's colorful past. Don't miss Ft Benton if you are a Lewis & Clark history buff.

For a tiny town I was amazed at how huge and well displayed this museum is! I could have spent many more hours there than our tour bus allowed. Lots of huge farm machinery, old west memorabilia, the place goes on and on!

If You are planning a trip to Montana and going to this area,it is well worth your time it to see this "Ag" Museum. One of the best museums that we have ever visited around the U.S. You will not get bored-there is something for all ages.Admission price($10) includes Ft Benton, with its adjacent museum and was quite reasonable.Cindy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, and seemed to enjoy her job.Taking a walk along the river and reading and learning more about Lewis and Clark and the history of Ft Benton was also fun. We spent all day(10:30-4:30 are their hours)and you get 2 days admission for the price so plan on staying over,if possible.Ft Benton has a colorful and interesting past and they present it very well.

This museum is quite large and has an extensive display about farming in the Great Plains. There was a special exhibit of six stuffed buffalo on loan from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Outside is a recreated town from the turn of the 20th century - many of the buildings you could look into. This is one of five museums you could bundle into a tour. Take the time to see all five. It's well worth the money.

I have been here many times and it is always great. You can learn a lot about the history of the Great Plains and it's people.

This museum holds more little surprises than I thought it could. Talked with the girl at the desk and her knowledge seemed endless.

Definately recommend purchasing a "museum pass" so you are able to take in the various museums throughout Fort Benton. Pride and the preservation of local history.

While visiting family I took my 5 and 9 year old here not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be a great museum! It is so much bigger than I expected. It gave you a visual history of farm life in montana and also the united states to some extent. It was amazing. We really loved the outdoor town and would have spent more time there if hadn't been 93 degrees! It was truly a wonderful museum. We will surely return when we come back to Fort Benton.

A very well lined out museum with large displays featuring dioramas and easy to read explanations. Very orderly and user friendly. Very interesting.

Locals may call this "Agricultural Museum" which didn't sound too intersting to me. Glad I didn't skip it!These photos are only a sampling of what's there - really gives appreciation of how diverse farmers must be: mechanic, carpenter, veterinarian, plumber etc.Moonshine eqpt, perils & pestilence, old toys- really something for the whole family.

Amazing to see these animals who were captured for the Smithsonian a century ago now on display in Fort Benton. It is an incredible presentation and also has some really nice pieces of Western art and sculpture.

Great displays and information. Extensive collection, well put together, lots of different displays, from old-time farming implements, household scenes, tractors, Native American displays, an excellent replication of an old town, complete with school, pharmacy, bank, and store. Well worth the time and $10 admission fee.

The docent was very condescending during the tour of the fort - but we needed to join a tour to get inside. Oh well.Interesting historical artifacts in the small museum.Best thing in town in the outdoor walking along the river front..

You will find the Hornaday Smithsonian bison display, which was used for all buffalo coins and photos. A magnificent exhibit of our heritage.
