This was my favourite building in Koblenz. It felt light and not overly decorated. The decoration was beautiful and not imposing. There are various interesting historical parts. I was very fortunate to come across an Advent service/concert by a Dutch visiting group, which was lovely. They have a brand new organ and the visiting organist made it sound amazing! A delightful building and very happy memories

This Basilica was built in 817 by Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagn, so it is a very old church. It is very close to the Deutsche Eck, so you can include it in the same tour. The interior is nice and gives you a sense of actually being in the mediaval times.

We came off the cable car from the fortress and got mystified by some garden display we saw in here. We decided to go in since it is just open to the public and drop by and it was just so relaxing there.

The basilica, reconstructed in the 13th Century on the site of a former 9th C church damaged in battle, is a dominant feature of the outskirts of Koblenz, and its distinctive twin towers can be seen from some considerable distance. It is situated at the lower end of the town close to the banks of the Rhine near its confluence with the Moselle. The church itself is quite an attractive structure, both internally and externally, and is surrounded by some pleasant and ornate gardens and a large fountain.

This church is over 800 years old. Its twin towers can be seen from a distance. It is near the German Corner where the two rivers meet. It is impressive inside and has a lovely garden and fountains outside. If visiting be aware that it closes at 6 PM. There are information panels near the church which cover its history going back to Roman times-- the panels are in German and English.

Compared to other churches in the vicinity, the Basilica is simply decorated but none-the-less an imposing structure. Well worth visiting if only to enjoy the tranquility.

This is a good stop for history buffs. The original site dates to Roman times. The building and surrounding gardens are lovely. Would love to return to hear a concert once the new organ is installed.

We had been photographing at Deutsches Ecke, and noticed signs to the Basilica. It is a lovely building, and well worth a visit.

The Basilica is sitting close to the Rhine River at the tip of Koblenz . When we were there , we were lucky to have the whole building for ourselves . We have seen prettier or more interesting religious temples but this basilica is still worth a quick visit if only to feel the peacefulness that it generates There is a very nice small garden beside it !

When we entered the grounds of the Basilica we were enchanted by the lovely water feature and sat there for some time enjoying the tranquility. Inside the architecture was impressive although we didn't stay long. There wasn't the vibrant energy that we found in the Church of our Beloved Lady.

Consecrated in 836. Archbishop Hetti of Trier began 817 with the construction. Current building at the end of the 12th century. 30 July 1991, John Paul II granted the Church to basilica minor. In this Romanesque building, once the favorite church of the Carolingian emperors, the Verdun compact on the division of the first German Empire was prepared in 843.
