Very good train ride up the mountain. We were met by our caoch and had some wonderful views of Boppard on the way down

During a week's cruise on the Rhine, a party of around 60 guests took this half-day optional excursion. It was billed as providing spectacular panoramic views, but nothing could have been further from the truth. We boarded the train in Boppard, and ascended to whatever height during a 25 to 30 minute journey. The only 'scenery' during the entire trip consisted of a few roads with parked cars, some buildings, plus trees, and trees, and MORE trees! At the destination/summit, there was nothing at all worthy of the description of a 'view'. The entire experience was a waste of time and money. On the journey back to the ship (by bus), I did not hear a single comment which diverged from my opinion. The consensus opinion was: 'wish we had not bothered'.I often attach photos to my reviews, but this one is an exception, because there was nothing to see which merited being photographed.

Staying in the Tannenheim hotel, this was your convenient link to the town centre. Works out about 6e return for the fifteen minute journey through the forest and down to the Mosel.

Lets start with the food. soup, soup, and more soup? the food was not interesting at all. The service was okay but not up to my expectation. Aside from the Negatives, the area itself (Boppard) was a really nice and quiet place to stay. overall I would not Pay to visit again in the Foreseeable future.

The train was an ordinary modern train. We had been told that it was a heritage train. However the train was a good train, nice and clean and comfortable. The view was mostly of trees but still quite good. We went into the town and had a walk around the park which is just a short distance away. There is a fantastic new cafe opposite the park- cakes galore!

This is the walkers train. You can take it to multiple stations but the best option is to take the train to Bucholz ( after 15 minutes) and then walk back to Boppard approximately 8 kms. The walk back is stunning. It is well sign posted ( look for the signs saying hunsruckbahn wander weg - hunsruckban walking route). It takes you along the railway route, past viaducts and tunnels and through wonderful glades. This is an easy walk down and through stunning scenery and there are plenty of scenic stops. It takes about 1.40 minutes to go back to Boppard and is worth doing for the sense of space and the views.Just do it

It's a fairly normal rail trip, Emmelshausen is a quiet town - I'm not sure why you would do this trip. However, take the train then walk back to one of the stations passed on the way up - lovely.

We did this train journey. You can buy the ticket on the train via a machine or on the platform. The machine won't except anything over a €20 but it gives change. It's not particularly expensive. But it's not really worth doing. There are some lovely views but these are better seen on the chairlift. I'd have rather sat in the town square with a cool beer.

It is well worth a trip up in the train just for the views alone, they are stunning, it's Germany at it's best.

Supposedly a scenic rail ride, but unless you have a reason for going to Emmelshausen it isn't worth the time. A couple of decent views, but nothing special and Emmelshausen not very exciting either. Did it, but just felt I had wasted a couple of hours.

If you have got a bike or intend to go hiking in the forests at the top excellent way to get up if it's for the views they are mostly of trees at the side if the line.

Zeer mooie streek, aangenaam vertoeven.
